The Harleian Society Lincolnshire Pedigrees shows a William Thompson of Roxholme who was alive in 1650 (M.P. in 1652), and he is the son of Ellen, daughter of Richard King of Cottesmore, co. Rutland, clerk. 1650

This corresponds to their entry in the Visitation of Leicestershire from the year 1619, where Anna Cave, daughter of Henry Cave and Philippa Braham, is given as the wife of William King of Edmondthorpe. Visitation

Monumental Inscription on the floor of the middle chancel in the church, a small brass plate, on a blue slab, reads:  
S. D. [Samuel Dixon] Thy worth may claime this lot, Never to be forgot. To Dorothie Dixon, 1686.
